The novel Coronavirus is believed to have originated in December from a wet market in Wuhan. With little to no information on the newly discovered virus, the number of infected patients rose like wildfire. In January, Wuhan was put under a lockdown that lasted 76 days. Sixteen temporary hospitals with 60,000 hospital beds were set up to meet the surging demand to treat infected patients.
However, after more than three months of struggle, Wuhan has now reported that there are no COVID-19 cases in the region. As per official data, the Hubei province in China with Wuhan as its capital recorded over 67,000 confirmed Coronavirus cases and more than 3,000 deaths.
The good news was shared on Sunday, April 26 as hospitals cleared all COVID-19 cases. Times of India reported about a doctor in Wuhan, Shang You who said, “It is a historic day. We have been waiting for this day for so long.”

After declining cases of the virus on April 8, the lockdown in the Hubei province with a population of about 56 million, was lifted and people were allowed to carry out their businesses. The wonderful sight of residents out on the roads and travelling to nearby tourist attractions gave a ray of hope to people worldwide.
The positive sign of the local spread of the virus being curbed and life returning back to normal in Wuhan has been encouraging many countries around the world to continue their fight against Coronavirus.
