The 55 kilometer long bridge connecting China, and Hong Kong was recently inaugurated. Hong Kong and Macau, both, will now have easy connectivity to the city of Zhuhai in China. By Japleen Kaur

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge took nearly 9 years to see the light of day, and around $20 billion were spent on its construction. It will kill travel time from Hong Kong to China by 3 hours. That only means tourism is going to flourish, and how!

However, private vehicles will need special permit to use this bridge, or else they will have to park their vehicles at the port, and then use the shuttle bus that begin services on October 24th to reach China. A one-way trip ticket of the shuttle wil be around $8-10 per person.

President Xi Jinping is expected to be at the ceremony today along with other officials to inaugurate this marvel. Well, we could have only expected China to break another record, right?

This bridge also had its fair share of criticism with activists worried about the amount of money being spent, and the fear of over tourism. Hong Kong anyway is up to the brim as far as the number of annual travellers are concerned.

But all said and done, the bridge is honestly quite stunning and looks state-of-the-art, and one you can spot even while flying over Hong Kong. So, who’s up for a road trip to China?
