As countries across the world observed World Hunger Day on May 28, Radisson Blu Atria Bengaluru teamed up with Atria Foundation to serve more than 50 lakh meals to the needy, since the beginning of lockdown while raising awareness. By Amitha Ameen

India ranked 102 out of 117 in the recent 2019 Global Hunger Index Report. The country has a large number of people who are struggling with hunger every day. Now more than ever, the hunger issue has taken a turn for the worse in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Radisson Blu Atria Bengaluru But the pandemic has brought together many heroes including Radisson Blu Atria Bengaluru who are on a mission to serve the needy during these tough times. Although COVID-19 continues to tighten its grip on the country, that does not deter the hotel’s noble mission of serving fresh and healthy meals to migrant labourers and the underprivileged.

The hotel has tied up with the Atria foundation and has served more than 50 lakh meals, and counting, through the foundation’s ‘Free Meals’ programme, ever since the lockdown started. Led by Kaushik Raju, COO of Atria groups, the teams were able to feed close to 6 million labourers, destitute, and the needy.

“With the support from a lot of good folks of our city, we have now served 50,21,450 meals since the lockdown. It’s been a humongous task, but it’s something that has given us incomparable joy. We will march on and we will keep serving, until we see the light at the end of the tunnel,” read a statement on the hotel’s Instagram page.
