After the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Mumbai is ready to add another feather in the hat. This time, with its much awaited Versova-Bandra Sea Link. The first images of the same are out, and they are stunning. By Kumar Shree

Mumbai is a charmer, but not without its fair share of problems, including the obnoxious traffic situation that the city often suffers from. Despite having a strong network of public transport including the local train, the metro, monorail, etc., traffic is a gnawing issue.  It is the same reason that has inspired the construction of mega-projects like the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (connecting town and the suburbs), and now is now ready to welcome a new one with the Versova-Bandra Sea Link.

The project has been in the pipeline for a while, and now it has received a go-ahead from the Bombay High Court. The Versova-Bandra Sea Link will enable people to reach Versova from Bandra in less than 10 minutes, which currently can take up to 90 minutes based on traffic conditions. The new sea link will have eight lanes and will be able to accommodate even large vehicles.

Given the sheer size and complexity of the project, an Italian firm Fuksas has been involved in the development of it. It is the same firm Studio Fuksas that has released a render of what the project will look like upon completion. The firm released an image and a rendered video on their Instagram page with a caption saying, “The Versova Bandra Sea Link is the Studio Fuksas proposal for a sea bridge starting from the Bandra end of Bandra Worli Sea Link and terminate at Versova, in #mumbai. The sea link will be located approximately 900 meters to 1800 meters from the coast, with a length of approximately 10 kilometers.”

Though this is just a proposed render and not the final design, however, given the sheer enormity and grandeur of it, we cannot wait for it!
