Uttarakhand allows hotels/homestays to operate in non-containment zones, only for tourists coming from non-high-risk areas. But, they’ll have to book a stay for minimum seven days. By Tanvi Jain

Uttarakhand has recently issued orders allowing hotelshomestays, and B&Bs to resume operations in non-containment zones, and take bookings, but not from tourists coming from high-risk COVID-19 cities. Moreover, as per the new Unlock 1.0 guidelines issued by the state government, it’s mandatory for those coming from non-high-risk zones to stay for minimum seven days. They will also not be allowed to visit tourist hotspotspublic places, or indulge with the locals, and will have to remain within the hotel premises only. 

The orders were issued by Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, along with other guidelines stating the reopening of malls, restaurants and places of worship, which will be allowed to operate from 7 am to 7 pm in non-containment zonesReports further said that the hotels will have to take a written undertaking from the customers and those found violating the order will be slapped with legal charges. 

“Uttarakhand Govt releases guidelines for opening of religious places/places of worship with effect from tomorrow – religious places/places of worship allowed to open b/w 7 am & 7pm outside containment zones, pilgrims from places outside the state not allowed till further orders,” ANI tweeted. 

While locals will be allowed to have access to the tourist hotspots, pilgrims from other states won’t be allowed till further notice. Furthermore, restaurants will also have to keep a record of the customers and waiters serving them, specially the date and time. As far as shopping malls are concerned, they will be allowed to operate with only 50 per cent of the shops on a particular day 

As per the latest data by covidindia.orgUttarakhand has so far recorded 1,819 cases of novel coronavirus (as on June 15), with 24 deaths and 684 active cases.
