Gradually, countries around the world are resuming international travels, while rising up to the global pandemic with many stringent safety and security protocols in place. Joining the list is Sri Lanka now! The island-nation is ready to finally resume all international flights from December 26 onwards.

Both the international airports in Sri Lanka were closed since March 2020. Even though the country eased restrictions from mid-May, an unprecedented upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases around August and October led to a longer halt for international flights. At present, the nation is ready to resume international travels.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) recently stated that it would soon issue directives and instructions for the travel industry. This will ensure smooth operations for both — charter and commercial flights.

However, in the last few months, nearly 40,000 stranded Sri Lankan citizens have returned to their homeland from 122 different countries around the world. Now that Sri Lanka is all set to resume international flights, speculations are also doing the rounds — that it might start welcoming foreign tourists as well. Any confirmation about the same has not been made by the authorities yet. But, we are keeping our hopes high! After all, who is not craving to hit the beaches of Sri Lanka!
