You will soon be able to take a chopper ride and enjoy amenities such as an amphitheatre, sculptures, adventure sports, etc., at the beaches of Mangalore. As per reports, the Malpe Sea walk in Udupi is all set to get the above mentioned attractions, thanks to the Malpe Beach Development Committee (MTDC).

In an attempt to lure both adults and children alike, the sculptures will include images of fish, a cat, fishermen, a traditional boat, etc. There will also be a children’s play area, a gardenshops, and sand art models to inspire kids who wish to give it a try.

“According to Chandrashekar Naik, in-charge Assistant Director (Tourism) and Deputy Director, Agriculture, Udupi, the attractions are coming up on about four acres of land,” reported The Hindu, further adding that, “The Nirmiti Kendra, Udupi, is setting them up for the committee.”

“Five cement-based sculptures are among the other attractions being created. The sculptures include that of a Garuda in Yakshagana style, a fisherman rafting a traditional boat, fishermen towing a fishing boat to the shore, a fish and a cat. The sculptures of a fish and a cat are being made for fun to entertain children,” the publication quoted Project Director of the Nirmiti KendraArun Kumar, as saying.

Furthermore, the amphitheatre will be built to accommodate at least 200 to 250 visitors, and various sports activities will also be set up to attract adventure junkies.

“We are looking at reviving heli-tourism rides from December. If the current footfall of tourists persists, we are keen to bring back Chipsan Aviation to give tourists a ride from the Aadi Udupi helipad and back, passing over St Mary’s Island and other string of islands straddling Malpe Beach. These heli-tourism rides were most sought after in the past,” MTDC proprietor Mukesh Shetty told the Times Of India.
