Here’s How The Fullerton Hotel Sydney Marks The Arrival Of A New Icon

Set in a historic building, The Fullerton Hotel Sydney marks the arrival of an icon in the city. By Bayar Jain

The original building of the hotel was built in 1866 as the Sydney General Post Office (GPO).

After marking its beginning with two flagship hotels—The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore in 2001 and 2010, respectively–The Fullerton Hotels and Resorts is all set to introduce The Fullerton Hotel Sydney on October 18 in the heart of the Central Business District (CBD), making it their first international brand expansion outside Singapore. Like its counterparts in the Lion City, this hotel is a monument—the building was formerly known as the Sydney General Post Office (GPO), a landmark that dominated the Sydney skyline for decades following its construction in 1866. Prominently located in Martin Place, minutes away from the city’s thriving cultural precincts, retail centres, and dining destinations, The Fullerton Hotel Sydney weaves the past and present together.

Ample natural light streams in through the atrium.

As part of its opening celebrations, this luxury hotel will offer complimentary limited editions of Fullerton stamps and postcards. While you marvel at the intricate stonework that occupies the walls, a resident tour guide will also take you on a complimentary heritage tour through time to discover stories of the city’s grande dame.

You can take a guided tour of the grande dame.

In an ongoing effort to share stories that matter, a coffee table book titled Fullerton Stories will also be released in 2020. Be captivated by memories and tales of the erstwhile GPO building through personal accounts of former employees and the public.

The Place serves Southeast Asian and Modern Australian fare with a great view.

To celebrate its partnership with Preferred Hotels & Resorts, The Fullerton Hotel Sydney will offer guests an opening special package which includes triple ‘I Prefer’ Hotel Rewards points and a dining credit of AUD 50 (2,458 INR) from October 18, 2019 till March 17, 2020. The credit can be redeemed at all dining outlets within the hotel, including The Place, a restaurant that specialises in Modern Australian and Southeast Asian fare, and The Bar, which serves Sydney Sling—an Australian version of the famous Singapore cocktail.
