The country started easing restrictions from June 1 itself, with reopening of cinemas, spas, theatres, and zoos, but with strict social distancing norms to discourage over crowding. Moreover, following the government’s relaxations for public transport, it even resumed interprovincial bus services. However, the country’s national carrier Thai Airways has rescheduled the commencement of its international flights from July to August.

Moreover, tourists will have to follow strict health and safety measures in the country in line with international standards, such as wearing masks in public places and increased personal hygiene requirements like hand wash.

Meanwhile the authorities are also reportedly in talks with the nearby Asian countries to boost tourism and MICE business, as they are hoping that reopening of international borders will first attract travellers from few Asian countries, with improved COVID-19 condition.

The tourism authorities of the country are also looking to entice travellers back with special long-stay packages in isolated and closed areas like Koh Pho Ngan and Koh Samui. The idea of the experience is two-fold, it is supposed to be a wellness retreat for tourists looking to cope after a few distressing months, while also being a form of quarantine that will ensure the safety of both locals as well as other residents.

If you plan on holidaying at a tranquil destination to unwind and destress, look no further than Thailand! As many countries emerge from the pandemic, the world is filled with new hope that better times lie ahead for tourists.
