Taj Mahal: the monument signifying eternal love that never ceases to catch the world’s fascination, will soon be open to visitors during the night. By Kumar Shree

Taj Mahal not only appears on the ‘wonders of the world’ list but is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If that does not speak to you of the magnificence of this wonderful monument, consider that it attracts anywhere between seven to eight million visitors every year. Well, that number is clearly going to witness a jump as the Taj Mahal can soon be witnessed even in the night as per the recent announcement by Union Tourism and Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel.

Nearly 400 years ago, a man fell in love with a woman. And when she passed away, he decided to let the world know what she meant to him. What he left behind was a legacy of love – and untold cruelty. But what stands till today, is one of the most beautiful creations put together by man. And the light of the full moon just takes it to another level. . . . . . #india #uttarpradesh #agra #tajmahal #tajmahalfullmoon #fullmoon #tajmahalnight #nightphotography #longexposure #polaris #architecture #unescoworldheritage #UNESCO #7wonders #wondersoftheworld #heritage #mughal #shahjahan #taj #incredibleindia🇮🇳 #indiatravel #indiatraveltales #imagesofindia #thecultpost #storiesofindia #lpindia

While access to the ethereal monument during nighttime is allowed at present, but it is restricted to only five nights in a year. These five nights is the full-moon night and the two nights before and after that. During these special nights, only a selected 400 tourists were allowed access to the monument, that too in a batch of 50 people in one go. The charges for the same were INR 500 for Indian citizens and INR 750 for foreign nationals.

As of now, access to the Taj Mahal is allowed only through visiting hours from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on the days the monument is open for visits. The government is receiving piles of requests to keep the monument open even during the night time and is working on implementing the same. We expect that the night time access to the Taj Mahal for visitors will be allowed soon. As of now, the government is working on permissions required to implement the same.

Apart from that, the government is also planning to illuminate the local area around Taj Mahal and once the required permissions are acquired, the infrastructure needed to manage the night-time visitors will also be put in place.
