Get ready to witness the splendour of Asia’s largest tulip garden, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, as it opens its gates to the public on March 23, 2024. Nestled in the foothills of the Zabarwan mountains, this picturesque garden will dazzle visitors with approximately 1.7 million blooms from 73 different varieties of tulips.

As spring unfolds from late March to April, the garden will be adorned with vibrant tulip blooms, showcasing five new varieties added this year, bringing the total to 73. Visitors can expect to see popular tulip varieties like strong gold, early harvest, ile de France, kung fu, candela, and margaritas, along with other flowers such as daffodils, ranunculus, hyacinths, and the rare Tulip Tree magnolia

Anticipating a surge in tourist footfall compared to previous years, the garden has expanded its parking area to accommodate more visitors, ensuring a seamless experience. Additionally, infrastructural upgrades including lighting, restrooms, and tourist amenities are nearing completion, complementing existing facilities like an open-air cafeteria, free WiFi, kiosks, and water fountains.

In 2023, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden earned a prestigious place in the World Book of Records (London) as Asia’s largest tulip garden, featuring 1.5 million tulip plants from 68 varieties. The favourable climate of the Kashmir Valley from March to April provides the perfect conditions for these delicate and exquisite flowers to thrive, offering visitors an enchanting floral spectacle.
