“The state government has granted ‘in-principle’ approval to the Sunburn electronic dance music (EDM) festival at Vagator this December. We need to have such festivals with social distancing. We don’t want to hold it at a very large scale, this year, it would be restricted to around 12,000 people. If the Union Ministry of Home Affairs doesn’t allow the festival, the state government would cancel it. The file has been sent to a high-level permission committee for final approval,” Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar recently said, according to the Times of India.

The organisers have also released a set of COVID-19 protocols to be followed by the visitors. These include mandatory use of Aarogya Setu app, proper sanitisation and thorough checking of temperature, compulsory social distancing and wearing of masks at all times, fixed time slots for visitors to avoid overcrowding, etc.
