Pokhara in Nepal is alluring, captivating, breathtaking, and every other adjective that you can think of. But, you’ll have to make a trip to Pokhara to know why it is such a favourite amongst tourists all over the world. There must be something that hides in the Phewa Lake? Let’s find out! By Shubhanjana Das

Day 1:

Breakfast At The German Bakery:

How do you even start an eventful day without a mind-blowing breakfast? Grab all the baked goodies and a good cuppa here at the German bakery in Pokhara. They are super popular and everything on their shelves sell out like hot cakes. You can try the cheese walnut, their apple-walnut crumble as well the quiches.

Phewa Lake:

Next, for the show-stopping attraction of the day, head to the Phewa lake around which the small city of Pokhara revolves. The vast expanse of the lake with mountains guarding it is a sight worth beholding. Also known as Phewa Tal, this is a freshwater lake, which covers an area of 4.43 sq. km.

World Peace Pagoda:

Hire a boat in front of the Phewa Tal to take you all the way to the base of the 45-minute hike that takes you to the World Peace Pagoda. It is said that no other place offers as panoramic a view of the Annapurna ranges as can be seen from the World Peace Pagoda.

After coming down from the Pagoda, ask your boat to take you the temple in the middle of the lake, the Barahi temple. It is a double-story pagoda temple dedicated to goddess Durga. The south-east section of the lake has a small island, which shelters the temple.

Moon Dance Restaurant and Bar:

One of the best places to eat in Pokhara? This one right here! This lakeside restaurant serves top-notch food and checks the quality, taste as well as service boxes. Salads, pizzas, steaks, dishes from Indian as well as the Thai cuisine are prepared and served, steaming hot. To end the royal feast, we suggest the lemon meringue pie, which is kinda epic!

Day 2:

Start the day early by taking a cab from the Lakeside to Sarangkot for what will be one of the most fascinating and sublime sunrises you will experience in your lifetime. Sarangkot boasts of unhindered views of Annapurna Massif, Fishtail Mountain, Dhaulagiri range, and Manaslu. It is located just 5-km from the lakeside but you will have to hike up for about 45 minutes to be able to watch the sun rise over the snow-clad peaks.

Oh, hey adventure-freaks! Try paragliding at Sarangkot to capture and witness the valley of Pokhara and the Dhauladhar range from above, Paragliding in Nepal is said to be one of the very best experiences in the whole world. Besides, we don’t see why you wouldn’t want the best view (and the best pictures) one could possibly take away from Pokhara?

Godfather’s Pizza:

By the time you come back to Lakeside after an epic sunrise and even more epic paragliding experience, sit back and relax at Godfather’s Pizza. Order from their range of authentic wood-fired pizzas. You can watch the sun go down from their terrace and have your favourite pizza keep you company as you let the rush of these two days to settle in.
