The town of Metzingen in Germany, around 30 km south of Stuttgart, offers a lot for tourists to take in. Its fame grew from the immense amount of outlet stores that sprung up here in the form of Outletcity Metzingen. This has now been recognised by ecostra Gmbh together with Magdus, and due recognition has been given. By Gayatri Moodliar
Offering a variety of high fashion and luxury brands such as Armani, Bottega Veneta, Gucci and many more at prices that see incomparable reductions throughout the year, the Outletcity Metzingen was deemed the economically most successful outlet in Europe. Declared by ecostra Gmbh together with Magdus, a French research institute, the report was based on a survey that took place earlier this year in which 76 international brands participated and were made to rate the performance level of outlet centre operators. In the ‘Leasing’ category, the competency of Outletcity Metzingen’s operator Holy AG was specifically highlighted.
“We are excited about this award which is motivating us especially for our big expansion plans in progress. Starting in 2019, we will enlarge our sales area by a quarter of our previous area and welcome numerous premium and luxury brands, and Hugo Boss will open its new flagship outlet. A successful start for a new era,” says Managing Director Wolfgang Bauer.
Seeing about four million visitors from 185 nations every year, the factory outlet location also hosts various events for people to immerse themselves in, thereby making it a wholesome destination. Its current prestige can be traced all the way back to when it rose as the hometown of Hugo Boss and a prime centre of the area’s textile industry.
Along with unbeatable deals, Metzingen also offers culinary treats to write home about, such as delectable Italian cuisine served in a restaurant in the form of a modern glass cube.
