The new Miss T restaurant and cocktail lounge in South Bombay brought the Big Apple to the by-lanes of Colaba. By Pallavi Mehra
The creative forces behind Mumbai’s acclaimed restaurants, The Table, Woodside Inn, The Pantry Café, and Bombay Vintage have come together to introduce their most ambitious project yet—Miss T. This chic eatery and cocktail lounge joins the elite company of new restaurants that have opened in the leafy bylanes of Colaba in recent months. Miss T embodies a well-travelled South Bombay woman and serves gastronomic delights and funky cocktails inspired by travels in a slinky two-storeyed bungalow.
Last weekend, we joined Miss T for her first adventure in the Big Apple. From spending a happy-hour in the Upper East Side to indulging in speakeasy-style cocktails in the East Village, followed by after-hours extending to dawn in the Meatpacking District, we experienced the best of New York City’s cocktail culture all without leaving the bustling city of Mumbai.
Jeremy Buck leads the team behind the bar at Miss T. Joining him on the occasion was NYC-based acclaimed mixologist Meagan Ashley. They have curated a well conceptualised, limited edition New York inspired cocktail menu. While all the 6 cocktails on the small, yet eclectic menu were Instagram-worthy and delightful, we especially enjoyed Other Famous Writers—a fun and refreshing gin-based cocktail, ‘Smoke and Mirrors’—a smoky and smooth tequila concoction, and a bespoke beverage, which Meagan whipped up, based on our preferences. We would go back to Miss T for the whimsical handcrafted beverages, which push the boundaries of the cocktail scene in India.
Along with the New York-inspired cocktails, we tried some of the inviting appetisers—a tomato salad with ginger strands and fish sauce, tamarind pork, steamed cabbage rolls with young corn and edamame, chicken skewers, and crispy-netted fried red snapper rolls with a scrumptious dipping sauce. We ended our New York City night out with a divine yuzu tart with black sesame ice cream and a chocolate dacquoise, made of Amaretto cream, chocolate, and coconut ganache.
The ambiance of Miss T is understated, mysterious, yet inviting. Washed in calm shades of indigo blue and aquamarine, with subtle metallic accents and soft-arced edges, this eatery is great for an indulgent night out with friends or even a weekend brunch with loved ones.
With its travel-inspired cocktails and cuisine, discrete and efficient service, stylish cocktail bar and cozy tables, Miss T has truly arrived. We can’t wait to join her on her next travel adventure! Any guesses of where she will be going next?
