Come festive season and the whole of India is usually bustling with excitement. But in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, one has to be cautious while going out and about during these times. Well, it seems like the Indian Railways has already planned everything in advance, with its recent announcement of a whopping 392 festival special trains from October 20 to November 30. As the year draws to an end, thousands of people all over the country plan to travel either for leisure or to visit family. But in times like these, this kind of crowding in public transports brings with it a high risk of community transmission. Therefore, in order to avoid any such incident, the The Indian Railways has announced that it will operate 392 festival special trains between October 20 and November 30.

The special trains all of which will mostly be equipped with third AC coaches will ply in destinations, such as, Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, and more, in order to regulate the demand for passengers wanting to travel during Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhatt puja. As for the timings and the fare of these special trains are concerned, the Indian Railways has confirmed that both will be same as set for previously run special trains.

The Indian Railways, after suspending all passenger trains during the national lockdown has now resumed partial services in a staggered manner. First Shramik trains were introduced to help stranded migrant workers reach their hometown. After the country began to enter Unlock 4.0, it also allowed reverse migration back to urban areas, so that workers can resume their job. So far, it has put into service 666 mail/express special trains which are now regularly plying across the country.
