While efforts in the rest of the country are in full swing to curb the coronavirus pandemic, the state of Goa was recently classified as a ‘Green Zone,’ by the Indian Government. But although the state is listed under the safe zone, that has not slowed down the authorities’ efforts in maintaining Goa as COVID-19 free state.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday tweeted, “With the efforts of our #CoronaWarriors and support of the people of Goa, our state has now been classified as a green zone by the Govt. of India. The war against COVID-19 is far from over.”

Adding to this the government said that those not wearing masks will not be eligible to get fuel or ration at any of the shops in the state. The decision to do so was taken by the State Executive Committee (SEC), chaired by Chief Secretary Parimal Rai.

“The state should launch a campaign, like ”no mask-no petrol” or ”no mask-no ration,” said the committee who added that these measures are necessary to be implemented to be in control of the Coronavirus pandemic situation.

While this may sound a bit extreme to some, the state feels that these measures are needed to keep COVID-19 at bay, which will ultimately be beneficial to the people of the state.

What do you guys think? Should other states adopt these measures to curb and overcome the pandemic too?
