Learn how to master the Fijian art of cooking and, at the same time, relax at some of the world’s most scenic beaches. By Anita Rao Kashi

ADVENTURE

Shark diving in Beqa Lagoon is among the most adventurous experiences in Fiji. Divers can expect to see large bull and tiger sharks, as well as silvertips, reef sharks, and even lemon and tawny nurse sharks. Instead of cage diving, guests are led to a low coral wall during feeding time, behind which they get to see the sharks. Feeding is done by hand as well as laid out on the sea floor so guests can get an up-close view of the creatures.

EAT

Tukuni is about stories, food and stories around food. Set in Fiji’s rich tropical greenery, the restaurant underscores the importance of fresh ingredients treated in traditional ways. Apart from laying out a wide spread of local delicacies, such as smoked fish, citrus fish in coconut milk, chicken and lamb curries with red rice, it also offers a hands-on demonstration of traditional Fijian cooking using charcoal as well as of preparing fresh salads.

EXPLORE

Mamanuca Islands is a set of 20 picture-perfect, white sandy beach islands surrounded by incredible turquoise waters and fringed by coconut palms. Almost a third of them are completely underwater during high tide, but great to explore during low tide. They are an ideal getaway for a lazy holiday or for a variety of adrenaline pumping water sports such as snorkelling, diving and surfing, among others.

SPA

Heavenly Spa by Westin at The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Fiji, the island’s largest and most sophisticated spa, gently nudges visitors towards slowing down. Set amid lush gardens and traditional ambience, the spa lays emphasis on the seven pillars of well-being, which are used to guide guests towards renewal with a range of pampering experiences. On the menu is a wide range of treatments including couples’ massages and therapy baths.

STAY

With a stunning beach as its backdrop, the Nanuku Auberge Resort Fiji is a quintessential South-Pacific paradise that is located along Fiji’s coastline on the main island of Viti Levu. Yet, it is a tranquil sanctuary for relaxation, combining contemporary luxury with traditional Fijian culture, with 37 Fijian-style suites, villas and residences.
