Rishikesh in Uttarakhand is one of the few destinations in India that collates the best of everything for all kinds of travellers. Are you a yoga enthusiast, an adventurer, a meditative soul, a slow traveller, or a food lover? Rishikesh has something for everyone. Perhaps, that’s why it is so popular among both domestic as well as international travellers.

Talking about adventure sports in the holy town, once again, you’ll find a multitude of popular options such as bungee jumping, zip-lining, river rafting, and what not! Out of which, river rafting tops the popularity list, and has been missed the most during the lockdown. However, not anymore, because the adventure sport is now back on track, and is all set to take you on a ride through the challenging rapids of River Ganga.

Operational throughout the year, except during monsoons and winters, this adventure sport can be undertaken from three popular rafting start points in Rishikesh. Those running short on time can opt for the Brahmapuri to Ram Jhula stretch, which is eight kilometres long. Others can opt for the mid-length 16-kilometre stretch from Shivpuri to Lakshman Jhula. And those who wish to cover the longest stretch can opt for the Marine Drive to Lakshman Jhula track, which stretches to 26 kilometres.

Uttarakhand Tourism, in its tweet, wrote, “Be it the thrill of rafting on the waves of Ganga or practising yoga on the sandy beaches, you will find absolute bliss in Rishikesh.”

A wholesome meal after a rafting session and a sojourn across Rishikesh makes for a perfect day. Of course, you can pack in a few more elements, by taking a walk through the local markets and participating in the divine Ganga aarti at Parmarth Niketan ashram.
