This Aesthetically Pleasing Cafe In Bir Is A Treat For Foodies

A cute little cafe with colourful interiors, serving the most delicious cakes amidst tall mountains, vast greenery and energetic para-gliders — June 16 would be your new bucket list entry, and guess what, it’s in Himachal Pradesh. By Japleen Kaur

That description would immediately take someone’s imagination on foreign lands. But it’s right here in the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh. Ritu and Sumit, actors by profession back in Mumbai came to Bir for a getaway but they fell in love with the vibe of the place, and decided to open a space where people could resonate with the same.

Over a year old, the cafe gets its name because of a romantic story. Many years ago on this date, Sumit asked Ritu out and they became a couple. So, when they decided to become business partners as well, there was no other name that deemed perfect.

Pastel-coloured furniture with potted plants welcome you here. As you enter the tiny eatery, you first admire the beautifully designed space with shelves, books, quotes, and a big counter full of desserts like — banana walnut cake, carrot cake, chocolate truffle, brownie, baked yogurt and more. My favourite has to be the first one. And Sumit himself bakes these yummy goodies, while Ritu handles the front desk. As she says — she’s the face of the venture, while he is the backbone.

The menu is crafted to be healthy with tonnes of vegan options as well. An eggitarian menu, if you want to be eating clean while on a vacation this is where you should head to. Since both of them are from Mumbai there had to be some influence on the food menu, right? Hence, you have pav bhaji on offer, cutting chai and grilled sandwiches to satiate your city cravings.

With a seating area upstairs too, from here you get views of the Tibetan colony, and the hills behind. They have accommodation space right next to the upstairs section of three rooms. The rooms are named — Joy, Love and Gratitude. I think, that’s proof enough for you to know what the happiness levels here would be like.

The best way to enjoy a slice of cake is with coffee here but if you are in Mumbai, they do the same bakery items from a home bakery in Juhu as well. Just DM them on Instagram for further details. But really, when in Kangra district ensure you visit this place.
