Read on to know which restaurants bagged the top spot, all thanks to the wonderful readers who voted for them! By Bayar Jain

It’s no hiding that Indians are known for their love for food. For us, food is more than a mere sustenance factor. It is also about the taste, looks, and the surrounding ambience. At the Travel + Leisure India & South Asia’s Delicious Food Awards 2019, we celebrate each of these components. Over the past few months, readers were given the opportunity to not only vote for their favourites across 22 categories but were also allowed to nominate restaurants if they wished. The long-drawn battle finally culminated at The Imperial, New Delhi where the best were crowned with their respective titles. Patisseries, Cafes, Cocktail bars…each were given its due share.

The awards included a range of cuisines such as Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Continental, Mughlai and more. Even theme-based restaurants, Sunday brunches, and the best of vegetarian restaurants were awarded during the glitzy evening.

Thank you @marryam ma'am! Your kind words, continue to motivate the team at @lavaashbysaby to bring forth the hidden gems of India's culinary map! • • • • • • • Earth Mother @meghakohli listens to the people in her kitchen. So, when her ‘boys’ sing praises of the mustard oil and sattu back home in Bihar, far from dismissing their conversation, she actually decided to hold a festival of Bihari thali. It is for gargantuan appetites: I couldn’t finish my try vegetarian thali. In particular, I loved the aloo chokha, perfumed with mustard oil from a staff member’s own fields back home and the besan gatta that was more robust than its Rajasthani cousin. The lauki raita too had a punch of mustard in it and the littis were baked in the traditional way, though where the restaurant obtained the wherewithal, I never discovered. It is on for this month, the Bihari thali, with weekly alterations. It is unvarnished with no concessions to the North Indian palate. On for lunch and dinner, vegetarian and fish/mutton/chicken variations. #lavaash #lavaashbysaby #biharithali #regionalcuisinesofindia #regionalcuisine #biharifood #thalisofindia
