As per reports, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has planned a tight schedule to finish a few expressway projects. These include the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road in Delhi, Trans-Haryana, and the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressways, which the NHAI aims to finish by 2023.

The new expressway between Delhi to Chandigarh is expected to complete by June 2023. This expressway will cut down the distance between Delhi and Chandigarh by 20 km, thus bringing down the current distance of 260 km to 240 km. The travel time, which has been a talking point for a while now, will be cut by half as travellers will be able to drive through five expressways.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs has called this a “trailer” and talked about having a web of expressways in this part of the country including the Delhi-Mumbai stretch.

NHAI Chairman KK Sandhu also said that the completion of these projects will establish effortless connectivity across regions and will change the way people undertake road trips.

As reported by The Times of India, an NHAI official said, “At a permitted speed of 120 km/ph on expressways, a car can cover this 240 km in just two hours. We have received bids and the process of evaluation has started. The target is to complete all these projects by the middle of 2023”.
