Crack The Code Of Fusion Food & Crafted Drinks At Decode Air Bar

Albeit there’s no dearth of microbreweries and speakeasies in G-Town, but finding a single spot that plates great food as well as stirs equally amazing cocktails for you is still a rare catch. Arrives in the scene Decode Air Bar—the modern speakeasy brewhouse that not only has a wide and fun drink menu that you’d love to be drunk on, but also has finger-licking modern Indian food with a twist on offer. By Sushmita Srivastav

We recently went in for a spin, and it was one hell of a delicious tipsy ride.

What We Loved

With an underlying theme of a war space that reflects in the beautifully-done decor (think vintage bits and bobs adorning the walls, a war plan drawn on a giant board, hanging plants twirling around the pillars, and old wooden furniture for seating), the ambience of the two-storeyed brew bar really draws you in. It’s a fresh add to the lineup of the routine lounges and bars that crowd Sector 29 of Gurugram. Though there’s an option of sitting in private on the first floor, pick a seat on the terrace level when you want to party the night away with friends while enjoying a sweeping view of city lights, shaking a leg over live songs, or just listening to a mix of music coming from the pulsating bars next-door.

T+L Recommends

Yes, we totally loved the ambience but the fun dishes, each with a modern twist, certainly take the cake. Give the usual a skip and start with the super healthy Quinoa Bhel (interesting, right?) that comes as a tower of quinoa, puffed rice, cheese bites, chopped veggies, and crispy sev tossed in a variety of sauces. The Kohliwada Chicken Popcorn are crunchy on the outside, and spicy and juicy on the inside—the authentic Kohliwada spice finds its place in the dish, and wins it a thumb’s up. The Palak Patta Chaat that comes on a bed of mashed and roasted sweet potato is my personal favourite from the starter’s menu.

For mains, we picked Fake Raan (masala soya minced and served in a way that it matches the famous mutton raan dish), Kadhai Prawn Dimsums, and Rainbow Veg Roll Sushi, and it’s safe to say we’re quite happy with our choices.

Picking out just one drink isn’t easy here, thanks to the interesting and fat bar menu. But you can surely start with the Smoked Temptation that is a great blend of coffee, bourbon whiskey and maple syrup—let the coffee mixed Jim Beam work wonders on your palate. The Spymistress Rosenberg is two things that a cocktail should be—classic and fabulous. It comes inside a wooded cabinet and is white rum mixed with apple juice, orgeat almond cordial and some cold brewed coffee.

What We Are Coming Back For

Though we have many more reasons to visit again, the Palak Patta Chaat, Rainbow Sushi, Spymistress Roserberg and the The Wishing Tree (chocolate tree served with orange candy floss, jaggery ice cream, mango ice cream, raspberry sauce and chocolate dust) are the ones that must find mention.
