And the City of Joy does full justice. A growing breed of theme-based cafes are the ‘in’ thing right now in the heritage city. So if you’re planning a trip to Kolkata any time soon, make sure you pay a visit to at least one of these cafes.
The Royal Bengal Tiger Café, as the name very obviously implies, is inspired by the Royal Bengal Tiger. Located in Tollygunge, the interiors are quirky, and the menu surely satisfies the taste buds.

2. Smash Street
Smash Street is a small café located in Salt lake, Sector 1. Play while you eat is the mantra here. An Italian-cum-Chinese restaurant, this cafe is a gastronomic delight. Try their appetisers, burgers, wraps, noodles, pastas, not to forget the Nutella waffles and sizzling brownies.

3. Bikers Café
The name says it all. It has a very rustic ambience and the perfect tribute to bikers in the city. Located on Elgin road, the menu includes Italian, Thai, American and European.

How can you ever miss the tram in Kolkata? It’s one of those iconic rides you just got to experience. This café in town is paying a lot of attention to this mode of transport. The seating arrangements are similar to that of a tram. Situated in Ballygunge, it is one of the most unique cafes in town. If you haven’t had a tram ride yet, make sure you visit this café.
