1. Golden Opulence Sundae

To begin with, the Golden Opulence Sundae, prepared by New York-based Serendipity 3 restaurant, holds a Guinness World Record for the most expensive sundae in the world at INR68,740. Second, it uses 23-carat gold leaf, and imports the rest of its ingredients from around the world. Third, the restaurant needs at least 48 hours to prepare this extraordinary sundae that uses Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla, Amedei Porcelana (one of the world’s most expensive chocolates), rare Chuao chocolate from Venezuela, the exclusive Grand Passion Caviar (a type of dessert caviar), candied fruits from Paris, gold-covered almonds, chocolate truffles and marzipan cherries. Finally, it is topped with gold leaf, sugar flower, and is sprinkled with some more edible gold. The sundae is served in a Baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet worth INR20,600, which the buyer gets to keep!

Again a Guinness World Record winner, the dessert is a blend of 18 different types of cocoas, is infused with five grams of edible chocolate. It is topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with more gold. The dessert is served in an edible gold-lined goblet, at the base of which is kept an 18-carat gold bracelet with one-carat white diamonds, with La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier on the sides. It is eaten with a gold spoon decorated with white and chocolate-coloured diamonds.
